OK, when I saw a friend of mine wearing these to do hand work, I was more than amused.  Someone else in our group commented on them and she pulled them off and demanded we try them. WOW!  What a difference! Being able to see your stitches sure improves their quality.  I wear them all the time now when I do hand work, and often when doing machine work as well.  And, no, they are not uncomfortable.

 

They come with two different magnification powers included 1.6X and 2.0X
